The widget home screen shows the same greeting, button and welcome message to everyone. If your website or app has a login, you can show logged-in users their own text, for example "Welcome back, Jane!" instead of "Hi there!". Visitors who aren't logged in keep seeing your regular text.
Who counts as a logged-in user
A user is counted as a logged-in user when your page passes their email to window.NeetoWidgetUserIdentity. Email is the only thing checked: a name or user_identifier without an email is treated as a visitor who isn't logged in.
<script>
window.NeetoWidgetUserIdentity = {
name: "Jane Doe",
email: "jane@example.com",
};
</script>
If you already pass user details to the widget, you don't need to change anything. See Auto populate name and email for logged-in users for the full snippet.
Set up text for logged-in users
Go to Admin panel > Widget > Customize > General.
Check Do you want to show different text to logged-in users versus not logged-in users?
Each text field now has two tabs: Not logged-in users and Logged-in users. Open the Logged-in users tab and enter the text you want logged-in users to see.
Click Save changes.
While the Logged-in users tab is open, the widget preview shows the logged-in text using your own first name and email.
Add the user's name or email
Use {{name}} and {{email}} in any logged-in text, and the widget replaces them with the details you passed. For example, Welcome back, {{name}}! shows "Welcome back, Jane!" and You signed in as {{email}}. We are here to help. shows "You signed in as jane@example.com. We are here to help."
If you don't pass a name, {{name}} is left blank, so only use it when your snippet always includes the name.
Good to know
Leave a field empty on the Logged-in users tab to show logged-in users the regular text for that field.
Logged-in text is saved per language. If you haven't added logged-in text for a language, logged-in users see the regular text in that language.
Unchecking the setting brings back the regular text for everyone. Your logged-in text is kept, so checking it again restores it.
